DesignBuilder

DesignBuilder is a desktop simulation package that puts a modelling interface on top of the EnergyPlus engine. Engineers can build detailed 3-D models of new or existing buildings and assess energy, comfort, daylighting, HVAC, cost and carbon performance in one environment. Parametric and genetic-algorithm optimisation tools compare large numbers of design and retrofit options. A calibration toolkit aligned with IPMVP, ASHRAE Guideline 14 and CIBSE TM63 then tunes the models against metered data for measurement and verification. The Climate Analytics module adds future weather files based on SSP scenarios, so overheating and resilience risks can be tested decades ahead. Compliance reporting covers ASHRAE 90.1, LEED, BREEAM and UK Part L.
