OpenBlue is Johnson Controls' AI-optimized smart building ecosystem of connected solutions and services, designed to help real estate owners and operators improve energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, optimise space and asset performance, and ensure occupant health and wellbeing. Built on Microsoft Azure, the platform integrates data from independent building systems—including HVAC, lighting, fire, life safety and security—into a unified 'digital brain' that applies machine learning and digital twins for real-time, autonomous building management. The ecosystem comprises the OpenBlue Data Platform (the foundational edge-to-cloud data layer unifying IT and OT data), the OpenBlue Enterprise Manager suite (with integrated generative AI for energy savings recommendations), and the FM:Systems IWMS portfolio for workplace, space and asset management (following Johnson Controls' 2023 acquisition of FM:Systems).
