Genworks

Genworks International, a d.b.a. of Knowledge Based Solutions (a Michigan corporation incorporated in 1996), builds knowledge-based engineering software. Its engine, Gendl / Genworks GDL, is a declarative Common Lisp-based language that captures engineering knowledge as executable code, with parametric geometry, NURBS solids and web-delivered applications. The company also provides the surrounding open-source workstation: Basalt (container-based deployment), Readymacs (Emacs-based editing console) and Lisply-MCP (MCP middleware for AI agents). It began as ICAD consulting and training, and has run production applications in aerospace, automotive and manufacturing since 2002. It is privately held by founder and CTO Dave Cooper.
